Fujacks.CA is a worm affecting all versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

This worm infects various files and spreads by copying itself to any available network shares.

The worm will copy itself to infected computers as the following file: “TXP1atform.exe”. It will also create various .ini files. The worm will then create registry entries to run at startup and then copies itself to all available network shares. The worm also has the potential to connect to remote sites for download/upload of data.

You should always scan your PC on a regular basis to ensure it is free from harmful malware, spyware, worms and more. Many of these can infect your computer without you being aware.

McAfee has recently reported that a very large number of fake MP3 files have been spreading across P2P networks. The bad news is that one of these MP3 files can very easily infect your PC with dangerous malware or viruses.

The infection is not limited to MP3 files, but can also be present in MPG video files. So beware with any downloaded .mp3 or .mpg files. When users attempt to play/open one of these files, they will be prompted to download a file called “PLAY_MP3.exe”. If the user accepts this install, then they will be immediately infected.

So take care with your MP3 files. We recommend that you run a free anti-virus scan at least once every week.

We have just been testing out a new anti-virus product and so far it looks really good. It is called Anti-Virus PLUS and was developed by ParetoLogic. These guys have tons of experience in developing security products and have been doing this for many years now.

This product provides all of your typical virus scanning and protection, however, it also detects malware, spyware, adware and a whole bunch of other nasties. Everything is pretty simple to use and the interface is very nice. You wont need any tech skills to get the most out of this product. They have worked hard at keeping it user friendly (unlike some other products we have been using).

Here is a quick rundown of the feature list, one of our favorites is the “Gamer Mode”. This allows you to play games at an optimal level without all the resources being sucked up. Basically, Anti-Virus PLUS just runs on minimal resources and while it scans in the background you wont have to abandon your PC.

Detection and complete removal of viruses, spyware and other malicious malware

In-depth scanning and cleaning process that finds and eliminates sophisticated threats

Detection and removal of known rootkits, which try to stop detection of malware

Blocking of access to malware related URLs

Customizable scanning

Quick, easy-to-use

Free database updates to keep you protected against the latest threats

Protect from Facebook application malware

Native gamer mode that minimizes impact during gaming

Protect from malicious code dropped by Java and VBS script

Screenshots of Anti-Virus PLUS in action:

The good news is that you can download this cool product free. Check the link below.

A computer virus attack may have exposed the personal information of more than 11,000 people who donated to a Central Oregon hospital system.

Hospital officials say it is not clear whether any of the information was seen by individuals outside the hospital, the Bulletin reported. The hospital announced Wednesday that the virus may have exposed the information.

The virus penetrated the computer system Dec. 11, and the hospital’s information technology staff believed they had rebuffed it. But Feb. 5, they detected suspicious activity in the system and called in computer forensic experts to investigate. By Feb. 20, it became clear the information had been made vulnerable by the virus.

“Although the investigation provided no indication that information was misused, CHC is working quickly and diligently to provide all affected members of our community with leading credit monitoring services at no charge,” said James A. Diegel, FACHE, President and CEO of CHC.

“We want to express our sincere apologies to those community members who have trusted us with their information for the inconvenience and worry this situation may have caused.”

A Chinese anti-virus company has warned against free downloads of Ang Lee’s steamy spy thriller, “Lust, Caution,” saying several hundred sites offering the service were embedded with viruses.

Lust, Caution, the latest film from Ang Lee, the Oscar-winning director, has become a box-office hit in China. But it is also attracting tens of millions of viewers who are downloading pirated versions of the film, containing at least seven minutes of bedtime action cut by China’s censors.

Internet security experts say hackers spread online virus either by attacking some medium and small film download websites and putting virus into them or by using certain software to tie the film with virus.

As a rising number of Chinese download films from the Internet, the problem of hackers spreading the virus becomes “more thorny”, they say.

The issue highlights emerging security problems as a growing number of Chinese download movies from the Internet, it said.

“Hackers are taking advantage of popular entertainment hotspots for movies and music to attack personal computers and spread viruses,”
