W32.Besverit is a worm affecting all versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

This worm spreads by copying itself to all removable drives on an infected computer. It will also infect various files on the infected computer.

The worm will copy itself to various files as well as creating many new files. It will then add a startup entry to the Windows Registry. This worm will add various new keys to the registry to lower security settings, change the behavior of Explorer and much more.

It is recommended that you scan for this and other worms on a regular basis.

Fiala is a relatively low risk worm affecting all versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system.

This worm spreads in the usual way by copying itself to removable drives, network drives etc on infected computers. The worm also has the ability to download files to the infected computer and install further harmful malware.

The worm will copy itself to drives as the file “jp.pif”, “jq.pif” or “jr.pif”. It will also copy various other files to the infected system including trojans. The worm will then create various registry entries to alter security settings and run programs on startup.

Because this worm can download other harmful malware to the system, there is increased risk of data loss and data theft.

According to security company McAfee, searching for Brad Pitt features a nearly one in five chance to end up on a risky page. If you look for wallpapers, screen savers and photos there’s an 18% chance to find malware.

“Cybercriminals employ numerous methods, yet one of the simplest but most effective ways is to trick consumers into infecting themselves by capitalizing on Americans’ interest in celebrity gossip,” said Jeff green, senior vice president of McAfee’s Product Development & Avert Labs.

Pitt is top of the fake Web site malware league, just ahead of a collection of pop and film stars that reads (in descending order) Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Heidi Montag, Mariah Carey, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Cameron Diaz, George Clooney, and Angelina Jolie.

In order to reel in Web traffic, cyber attackers often create Web pages featuring A-list movie actors or rock stars, such as Beyonce and Justin Timberlake. News or videos of celebrities often entice unsuspecting victims to click on malicious links or open pages infused with malicious code in search of the latest celebrity gossip, screen saver or ring tone, researchers say.

If you have downloaded some “Pitt-Virus” run this free scan – Remove Malware and Spyware

We have just been testing out a new anti-virus product and so far it looks really good. It is called Anti-Virus PLUS and was developed by ParetoLogic. These guys have tons of experience in developing security products and have been doing this for many years now.

This product provides all of your typical virus scanning and protection, however, it also detects malware, spyware, adware and a whole bunch of other nasties. Everything is pretty simple to use and the interface is very nice. You wont need any tech skills to get the most out of this product. They have worked hard at keeping it user friendly (unlike some other products we have been using).

Here is a quick rundown of the feature list, one of our favorites is the “Gamer Mode”. This allows you to play games at an optimal level without all the resources being sucked up. Basically, Anti-Virus PLUS just runs on minimal resources and while it scans in the background you wont have to abandon your PC.

Detection and complete removal of viruses, spyware and other malicious malware

In-depth scanning and cleaning process that finds and eliminates sophisticated threats

Detection and removal of known rootkits, which try to stop detection of malware

Blocking of access to malware related URLs

Customizable scanning

Quick, easy-to-use

Free database updates to keep you protected against the latest threats

Protect from Facebook application malware

Native gamer mode that minimizes impact during gaming

Protect from malicious code dropped by Java and VBS script

Screenshots of Anti-Virus PLUS in action:

The good news is that you can download this cool product free. Check the link below.
