Sexy View is a worm that has been hitting smartphones and uses their contact list to spread to other smartphones.

The worm sends a message out to all of the contacts on the infected smartphone, which then directs them to a webpage that has the malware application. The worm can retrieve information about the phone, such as serial number etc. This information is transmitted back to the malware creators.

So far the Sexy View malware has been targetting devices using Symbian S60 3rd edition, and was first discovered on the Nokia 3250.

This is supposedly the first text message worm to be created for smartphones, but it is probably just the first of many.  Malware will continue to grow in this area and smartphone protection will just become another necessary task. As always, be careful about what data you keep on your smartphone.
