The popular networking site Facebook is the target of a new attack that is spreading messages with malicious links. Boston-based IT security and control firm Sophos is warning users about the problem. Sophos said a Facebook user’s computer can be infected after they view a video that is infected with the bad code.
Hackers, impersonating members’ friends, attacked Facebook by convincing users on Facebook’s Wall to view a video link that they said was hosted by Google. But clicking on the link and visiting the webpage takes users to a site which urges them to download an executable to watch the movie.
When clicked, the link will lead to another Trojan horse, Troj/Agent-HJX, which displays an image of a court jester sticking out his tongue.
