Most people around the world at the moment when they think of the olympics might talk about the turmoil that is surrounding the torch relay around the world, but there is another potentially damaging event taking place.
Malware writers are attempting to cash in on the ‘Pro Tibet’ movement by making a video called ‘Race for Tibet’ which is in fact just malware. When the user loads the executable file they also download a piece of key-logging malware that installs itself as a driver.
McAfee researcher Patrick Comiotto warned that the movie initially infects the user with a malicious driver. The file is installed in the ‘%windir%/system32/’ driver folder under the name ‘dopydwi.sys’.
It is the second such attack in just a few days. Last week, hackers placed the “Fribet” Trojan on a number of pro-Tibet websites. That exploited a vulnerability in Windows.
